One of my sisters was a single parent for 13 years. She would call me after driving several laps around her church on Sunday morning because she was trying to get up the courage to go inside the front doors. She was single and did not know where to sit.
One of the Sundays that she did make it inside, she “happened” to sit by a 83 year old woman named Clare who always made it a point to say, “Hello!” with a smile and big hug. Clare had been a widow for 10 years and made everyone feel loved.
“I know what you need.” Clare said, patting the chair next to her. “This is your seat. Every Sunday, this is your seat.”
My sister’s Nascar laps in the church parking lot came to an abrupt end because now she knew her destination was “her” seat next to Clare.
To singles the Moellers say, “You always have a seat next to us. We claim you as our own. We care about you and love you.”
2012 is only half over and we are praying for healings, miracles, God’s best, and more of God in all of our lives.
